Dr Reddy qualified from the University of Cape Town with a medical degree (MBChB) and returned to KwaZulu-Natal to start her post graduate training in Ophthalmology. During this time she was awarded the Neville Welsh Medal in Ophthalmology for outstanding results in her training and went on to receive her award for the American Research Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO)-2015 Developing Country Eye Researcher Travel Fellowship. Dr Reddy was the lucky South African to be awarded the American Research Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO) -2015 Developing Country Eye Researcher Travel Fellowship.
